Thursday double for Oratorio

18th February 2022

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s multiple G1 winning stallion Oratorio continues to churn out winners all over the country, and the son of Danehill came up with two eye catching winners at the Vaal racecourse on Thursday afternoon.

Already the sire of such G1 winning two-year-olds as Banchee, Beethoven and Van Halen, Oratorio looks to have another potentially smart two-year-old to his name in the form of Blindedbythelights.

The latter made an eye catching debut when romping home to a clear-cut win at the Vaal on Thursday.
Under Warren Kennedy, the Paul Peter trained Blindedbythelights showed her class when running out a four length winner of the first race on the card, the #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1000 metres).

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Blindedbythelights is out of the Mogok mare Fortissimus.

Paul Peter and Warren Kennedy teamed up with flashy grey It’s About Time to give Oratorio a double on the Vaal’s card.
The Dr Ian Heyns bred gelding showed his well being when It’s About Time drew clear in Thursday’s Betontab.co.za Progress Plate (1100m) to win going away by three lengths.

Third in last season’s G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes, It’s About Time was making his Gauteng debut on Thursday.

His triple G1 winning sire Oratorio, already sire of 60 stakes winners, has eight lots on the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.
