Two-year-old success for Rafeef

22nd February 2022

Ridgemont Highlands’ promising young sire Rafeef came up with an eye catching debut winner on Monday, when his two-year-old daughter Who Do You Love won impressively at Kenilworth.
Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Who Do You Love powered home down the inside of the Kenilworth track, under a good ride from Aldo Domeyer, to win Monday’s first race by two and a half lengths.

Still an immature sort, Who Do You Love looks sure to come on from this impressive first effort.

Bred by the Narrow Creek Stud, Who Do You Love was a R200 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

The filly is out of the Model Man mare Fair Enough -whose previous foals include G2 KRA Fillies Guineas heroine Maybe Yes.

Who Do You Love’s G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef has made a pleasing start with his two-year-olds this season. To date, Rafeef has had eight juvenile runners of whom four have either won or finished in the money.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, Rafeef made an eye catching start with his first crop headed by the graded stakes winners Aragosta and William Robertson. Another son, Whafeef, ran second in Saturday’s Egoli Mile (Non-Black Type) at Turffontein.
