Maine Chance Farms’ consistently successful stallion Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, has made a cracking start with his two-year-olds this season, and Querari looks to have come up with another potentially top-class juvenile in the form of his daughter River Queraress.
The latter made it three wins in a row, and three wins from just four starts, when she ran out a brilliant winner of the Listed Ruffian Stakes (1000m) at Turffontein on Sunday.
One of two runners in the Ruffian Stakes for Querari, the Paul Peter trained River Queraress showed her class with a dominant display.
Under Warren Kennedy, the Boland Stud bred two-year-old, who was conceding from 2 to 5 kgs to all but one of her rivals, hit the front 200m from home and drew clear to win emphatically by three lengths.
A R250 000 buy from the 2021 National Sale, River Queraress, a 27th stakes winner for Querari, is out of the Windrush mare Clockwinder and she is thus bred on the same Querari/Windrush cross as reigning Equus Champion Sprinter Rio Querari.
Her sire Querari is enjoying another fine season with his two-year-olds and the son of Oasis Dream is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for 2021-2022 by stakes earned.
