Maine Chance Farms’ star sire, and champion South African sire elect, Vercingetorix looks to have yet another bright prospect to his name in the form of Queen Of Gaul.

The latter made a stunning start to her racing career when romping home to a brilliant debut win at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.

Trained by Paul Peter, the two-year-old Queen Of Gaul was backed down to start tote favourite for Thursday’s #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1000m) and she more than lived up to expectations.
Under Warren Kennedy, Queen Of Gaul was quickly away and went out to make the pace. Her rivals could not keep up with her, as Queen Of Gaul drew further and further away in the closing stages to register an eight and a quarter length win at the first time of asking.

Bred by Riethuiskraal Stud, Queen Of Gaul was a R55 000 buy from last year’s August Two Year Old Sale.

The filly is out of the Elusive Quality mare Touch Of Nobility, and is the first two-year-old winner this season for her sensational sire Vercingetorix.

The latter is currently South Africa’s Leading Sire, by stakes, for 2021-2022, with Vercingetorix’s eight black type winners this season headed by the G1 winners Chansonette (WSB Cape Fillies Guineas) and Pomp And Power (Jonsson Workwear Cape Derby).

A champion son of champion sire Silvano, Vercingetorix also made headlines at the recent Cape Yearling Sale where he supplied the joint R1 000 000 sales topper.
