Black Swan Stud’s consistently successful resident sire Elusive Fort looks to have come up with another talented performer in the form of Naval Guard.
The latter made it three wins in a row when victorious at Turffontein on Sunday, and Naval Guard looks to be another fine flagbearer for his underrated sire.

Trained by Paul Peter (who has already enjoyed plenty of success with the progeny of Elusive Fort), four-year-old Naval Guard made it a hatrick of wins when victorious in Sunday’s 4Racing.TV MR92 Handicap (2000m).
Under champion jockey elect for 2021-2022 Warren Kennedy, the Riethuiskraal Stud bred gelding outclassed his rivals with Naval Guard powering away to a deceptively easy two and a quarter length win.
Now a winner of four of nine starts (he has been unplaced just twice), Naval Guard is out of the Toreador mare Imperial Empress.

Naval Guard was one of two winners at Turffontein on Sunday for his triple G1 winning sire Elusive Fort.

The latter also supplied the winner of Sunday’s eighth and final race, when the Paul Peter trained Jp Two Thousand ran out a facile winner over 1400 metres. Bred by Peter De Beyer, Jp Two Thousand was winning for a third time, with the gelding having now won three of his last four starts, with Jp Two Thousand runner up last time out.

Elusive Fort’s star son, and this season’s G1 WSB Cape Town Met winner, Kommetdieding is set to be pointed at a title defense of his July crown as he is a likely starter in the 2022 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July.
