Monday double for Master Of My Fate

24th October 2023

Varsfontein Stud’s red-hot resident sire Master Of My Fate was once again to the fore on Monday when the strapping son of Jet Master came up with two more winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
His double was headed by his unbeaten son Mexican Pete landing Monday’s feature race, the Foresight Model Man Mile (1600m) in courageous fashion.
Cramped at the start of Monday’s Model Man Mile, Mexican Pete was not suited by a pedestrian pace set in the race, but when Muzi Yeni asked him the question, the Frank Robinson trained colt quickened up smartly to win convincingly by nearly a length.
Now unbeaten in three starts, three-year-old Mexican Pete had romped home on debut before winning his only subsequent start by four lengths. A tilt at graded races now appears to be on the card for the Master Of My Fate colt.
Bred by the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Mexican Pete is out of the Gitano Hernando mare La Gitanila.
His sire had enjoyed success earlier in the day when Master Of My Fate colt Master Of The Turf downed yet another son, Player X, of the Varsfontein resident to land Monday’s Seagull Industrial Maiden Plate (1900m) by just over a length and a quarter.
Another trained by Frank Robinson and bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, the lightly raced Master Of The Turf was making just the third start of his career on Monday.
The colt, who is out of the Jallad mare Lamarr, was an R180 000 buy from the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale.
His inform sire Master Of My Fate has been responsible for more than 30 winners this season thus far, with Master Of My Fate currently heading South Africa’s General Sires List for the 2023-2024 season.
The son of champions Jet Master and Promisefrommyheart has eight lots on offer at the upcoming November Two Year Old Sale.
