Global View gelding lands 4Racing Caradoc Gold Cup

7th April 2024

Ascot Stud’s dual graded stakes winning sire Global View has had a good few weeks, and the son of Galileo struck again when his son Rule Book won the Listed 4Racing Caradoc Gold Cup at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Alec Laird, five-year-old Rule Book claimed his biggest win of his career thus far when he came from off the pace to land Saturday’s 2850m feature race.
Under a good ride from Kaidan Brewer, Rule Book powered home down the outside of the track and fought off a dogged challenge from Positive Attitude to score by a neck.
Bred by Ascot Stud, Rule Book has now won seven of 22 starts with the five-year-old having finished third in the Listed TAB Aquanaut Handicap before winning on Saturday.
The gelding, who is out of the Medicean mare Reputable, was a R190 000 buy from the 2020 National Yearling Sale.
His sire Global View, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020, is also the sire of this season’s smart three-year-old Fairy Knight, winner of the Listed Ibhayi Stakes and East Cape Guineas in his two most recent starts.
A son of legendary stallion Galileo, Global View has four lots on offer at the 2024 National Yearling Sale, including a half-sister (Lot 97) to G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge winner Coral Fever.
