Maine Chance Farms’ inform stallion Querari is having an excellent season in 2023-2024, and the G1-winning son of Oasis Dream enjoyed further success on Saturday.
Querari filly Furious Queen made the perfect start to her career when that two-year-old made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Trained by Eric Sands, the Lammerskraal Stud bred and owned filly stormed home, under Sean Veale, to claim Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) by nearly half a length.
The promising Furious Queen is out of the Parade Leader mare Furina, and she hails from the immediate family of the Querari sired Listed Somerset 1200 winner Underworld.
Twice Leading Sire of 2YOs in South Africa, Querari is no stranger to siring high-class juveniles, with talented two-year-olds sired by Querari including G1 winners Bavarian Beauty and Querari Falcon, as well as such graded stakes winners as Cosmic Light, Gobsmacked, Maryah, and Cockney Pride among others.
The inform Querari is also the sire of the classy Cruise Control, who won the Fairview Flying Five on Friday. Bred by Boland Stud, Cruise Control has now won ten times from just 16 starts.
Querari also made news as a broodmare sire on Saturday. His daughters Cosmic Light and Fresh are the dams of Cosmic Star and Tyrion Lannister, victorious in races eight and six at Turffontein and Hollywoodbets Kenilworth respectively.
Currently third on the General Sires List for 2023-2024, Querari has been responsible for seven black-type winners of eight stakes races this season thus far, and his progeny have already earned more than R11 000 000 in stakes this season.
