Impressive debut winner for Heavenly Blue

14th April 2024

Ascot Stud’s G1 winning sire Heavenly Blue looks to have come up with a promising two-year-old in the form of Truth.
The latter made an impressive start to his racing career when he made a winning debut at Turffontein on Saturday for Candice Dawson and Gavin Lerena.
Always prominent in Saturday’s Welcome To The Hennenman Memorial Juvenile Plate (1160m), Truth kicked on strongly in the closing stages and drew off to win smartly by four and a quarter lengths.
Bred by the Tawny Syndicate, Truth is out of the Frankel mare Frankly.
The colt is the third two-year-old winner this season for Heavenly Blue, with the latter having had just eight juvenile runners in 2023-2024 thus far.
Heavenly Blue is also the sire of Listed East Cape Nursery hopeful Play Act, while another two-year-old sired by the Ascot resident, Havana Grey, was just touched off when second at Fairview on Friday.
A son of four times Australian Champion Sire Snitzel (whose progeny also include a pair of G1 Golden Slipper winners in the form of Shinzo and Estijaab), Heavenly Blue made his mark with his small first crop headed by Listed Lady’s Pendant winner Three Rocks.
Heavenly Blue has five lots on offer at the 2024 National Yearling Sale.
