The United States relatives shine

6th May 2025

Moutonshoek’s G1 winning stallion The United States is from a red hot family.
This family came to the fore once again over the past few days, with members of this clan winning black type races both in Ireland and South Africa.

Promising three-year-old Officer, a son of The United States’ dual G1 winning own sister Hydrangea, showed his class when he won the Listed Henry Longfellow Tetrarch Stakes on Monday.

The regally-bred son of Dubawi and Hydrangea went to post a 10/11 shot in the Listed contest after a promising run to finish third in the Gladness Stakes at the course on his return in late March.

Ryan Moore settled the Ballydoyle colt behind the leaders today before asking him to close passing the two pole.

Officer hit the front at the furlong marker and kept on nicely in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarter victory.

A tilt at the G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas is now on the cards for Officer.

Mill Princess, the fourth dam of The United States, also features as the fifth dam of Mon Petit Cherie, one of the top three-year-old fillies in South Africa this season.
Winner of the G2 Western Fillies Championship earlier in the season, the daughter of Rafeef picked up another good prize when she won Saturday’s G2 World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas. (Mon Petit Cherie’s dam Exotic was sired by Galileo, the sire of The United States).

A son of legendary sire Galileo, The United States himself enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday where his son The US Of A won the tenth and final race.
Under Richard Fourie, the Patrick Kruyer trained four-year-old stormed home to win the Hollywoodbets Bright Future C Stakes (100m) by two and three quarter lengths.
Bred by Riverton Stud, The US Of A has won two of his last five starts.
