Soqrat colt wins on debut

13th July 2025

Sandown Stud’s triple G1 winning sire Soqrat came up with a smart looking debut winner on Sunday.
His two-year-old son Deandre’s Dream made the perfect start to his career when he won the New Turf Carriers Stopover Quarantine Maiden Plate (1400m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Trained by Peter Muscutt, Deandre’s Dream showed plenty of courage in his debut win.

Under Serino Moodley, the Soqrat colt stayed on gamely to prevail by a head in a thrilling finish.
Bred by Hopes And Dreams Stud, Deandre’s Dream races for Mr Denver Moodley.

Deandre’s Dream, who is out of the Frankel mare Mazaaher, was a R200 000 buy from the 2024 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

The colt holds an entry for the upcoming G1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes –a race won by Soqrat himself in 2018.

Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2017-2018, Soqrat went on to capture both the G1 Cape Guineas and G1 Horse Chestnut Stakes at three.
The champion retired to stud having earned R3,576,750 in stakes.

Soqrat has enjoyed a good season, with his flagbearers including Listed World Sports Betting Sledgehammer winner I Salute You.
