Fresh off supplying impressive recent G2 Anthonij Rupert Wyne Premier Trophy winner Rascallion, Maine Chance Farms’ sire sensation Vercingetorix struck again at feature race level when his son Cape Eagle made all to win the Listed Michael Roberts Stakes, run at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
An impressive winner of his two previous starts, the Andre Nel trained Cape Eagle made it three wins on the bounce with a fluent win in Sunday’s R100 000 feature race.

The gelding is out of the Western Winter mare Joie’s Winter.
Cape Eagle was one of two winners at Scottsville on Sunday for his sire, with Vercingetorix gelding Hooves Of Troy victorious in Sunday’s eighth and final race.
Now in the care of Wendy Whitehead, the Hartley SA bred six-year-old had shown considerable promise at two, where Hooves Of Troy had claimed the 2019 Listed Dahlia Plate.
His sire Vercingetorix, a champion sire in waiting, is currently second on the General Sires List.
A former Equus Champion, and G1 winner in Dubai, Vercingetorix enjoyed considerable success at the recent Cape Premier Yearling Sale Powered by Tattersalls, where his yearlings made up to R1 000 000 and averaged R682 500.
