Another double for Elusive Fort!

18th September 2020

The Black Swan Stud based Elusive Fort has made a great start to the 2020-2021 racing season, and the champion son of Fort Wood currently ranks above the likes of What A Winter, Vercingetorix, Dynasty and Silvano on South Africa’s General Sires List.

Elusive Fort’s good start this season continued when the triple G1 winner supplied a pair of winners at the Vaal’s Classic Track on Thursday afternoon.
His three-year-old daughter Let There Be Light made a big impression when she spreadeagled her field to shed her maiden by five and a half lengths while scoring over 1600m on Thursday.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the Paul Peter trained filly had been second in her two previous starts.
Out of the Western Winter mare Leste, Let There Be Light is bred on the same Elusive Fort/Western Winter cross as G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Lauderdale.

Elusive Fort’s second win on Thursday came when his four-year-old son El Romiachi won the seventh, and penultimate, race on the card.
Trained by Romeo Francis, the Riethuiskraal Stud bred gelding, under a superb front running ride by S’Manga Khumalo, accounted for another son of Elusive Fort, Elusive Swann, to register just under half a length win over 1600m.

From the family of champions Empress Club, Ecurie, Escoleta Fitz and Eventuail, Elusive Fort enjoyed a fine season in 2019-2020 with his flagbearers headed by G1 SA Derby winner Out Of Your League.
