Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s triple G1 winning sire Oratorio enjoyed a tremendous season in 2019-2020, and the son of Danehill has begun this season in promising fashion.

Oratorio’s good form continued at the Vaal’s Classic Track on Thursday, when the Avontuur resident supplied the winners of both the third and six races.
His Oldlands Stud bred daughter Diamonds ‘N Dust pulled off a surprise win when she scored a 1.4 length win in Thursday’s third race, while breaking her maiden over 1000 metres. Trained by Clinton Binda, the three-year-old daughter of Oratorio was ridden to victory by Calvin Habib.
Out of the Oasis Dream mare Dream River, Diamonds ‘N Dust was making just her second racecourse outing on Thursday.
Oratorio’s second success on Thursday came when his Terry Andrews bred son Etched In Blue made all to win the sixth race for S’Manga Khumalo and Ashley Fortune.
Twice champion sire in Italy, Oratorio ended the 2019-2020 season sixth on the South African General Sires List, with his progeny banking more than R8.629 million in prize money last season.
Oratorio’s recent flagbearers include the graded stakes Van Halen (G1 Mercury Sprint),Capoeira (G3 World Sports Betting Cup Trial), Love Bomb (G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper), Mardi Gras (G2 New Turf Carriers Merchants), and Snapscan (G2 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers, G3 Victress Stakes).
