Another Lanzerac Ready To Run win for Trippi

19th Nov 2017

Drakenstein Stud’s resident champion sire Trippi enjoyed his second win in the R2 500 000 Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes when his Drakenstein Stud and Team Valor International bred daughter Miss Katalin won the 1400m contest at Kenilworth on Saturday.

Trained by Justin Snaith, who also handles Trippi’s very promising 3yo son Cot Campbell, Miss Katalin produced a fine turn of foot to get up in the shadow of the post in Saturday’s contest and win going away under jockey Grant Van Niekerk. In the process, Miss Katalin accounted for all of Kuda Sprint winner Bold Respect, Listed Racing Association Stakes winner Pack Leader, G3 Protea/Listed Storm Bird Stakes winner Barrack Street, G2 Golden Horseshoe winner Purple Diamond and G2 Joburg Spring Challenge hero Wonderwall.
The filly, third in last season’s Listed Irridescence Stakes, has now earned R1 324 00 from just six outings and looks to have a bright future ahead of her.

Her sire Trippi is also responsible for the 2014 Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes winner Zambezi River. Saturday really was a memorable day for Trippi-whose sons White River and Broadway Trip ran 2-4 in the G2 Selangor Cup (a race won by Trippi’s Gold Standard last year). Both colts now look like legitimate contenders for the classic races later in the season.

It has been another great year for Trippi, who was Champion Sire in South Africa in 2015-2016.

The son of End Sweep’s star runners in 2017 included G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge hero Deo Juvente, who has earned over R3.5 million , and the above mentioned BSA August Million winner Broadway Trip.

Trippi is also responsible for the impressive recent debut winner Sugar Girl, who rates as yet another promising sophomore for the champion sire. He is also enjoying increasing success as a broodmare sire, and is damsire of 2017 North American graded stakes winners Miss Sunset and Multiplier.
