A colt by Highlands Stud’s outstanding sire Dynasty topped Friday night’s CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa. Consigned by Klawervlei Stud (As Agent), the regally bred colt was knocked down to prominent owner Alesh Naidoo for R1 100 000.

The only lot to crack the R1 000 000 barrier, the colt, as yet unnamed, came up early in the sale as lot five. He is out of Equus Champion and triple G1 winner All Is Secret, whose full-sister is G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner The Secret Is Out. His second dam Secret Of Victoria won six including the G2 Sceptre Stakes for trainer Vaughan Marshall. This is the same family as WSB Cape Fillies Guineas favourite Snowdance and the Dynasty sired champion Bela-Bela.

Top filly sold on Friday’s sale was lot 125, a daughter of now deceased champion sire Captain Al. Also unnamed, she too was consigned by Klawervlei Stud (as Agent), and she was sold to David Abery for R800 000. The Captain Al filly is out of the three time winning Rakeen mare Spirit Leader and hails from the same family as former Equus Champion Kochka.

Klawervlei Stud led the vendors list, with South Africa’s champion breeders’ gross reaching R6 535 000, while Bass Racing were leading buyers at the sale –purchasing five lots for an aggregate of R2 475 000.

The late great Captain Al, broodmare sire of the sales topper, was leading sire, with the eight times champion sire of 2yos responsible for 10 two-year-olds grossing R5 060 000.
