Drakenstein Stud’s resident stallion Futura has some very smart three-year-olds representing him this season.
From a Guineas contender in the form of Le Morne, to a very likely Derby contender in the form of the exciting G3 Politician Stakes winner Rockpool, Futura looks poised to make his mark in three-year-old feature races this season.
The champion son of Dynasty has yet another impressive-looking sophomore this year in the form of Future Swing.
The latter made it back-to-back wins when scoring a smart win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth at the end of January.
Trained by Justin Snaith, who also conditions Futura’s exciting son Rockpool, Future Swing was given a confident ride by Richard Fourie.
Fourie elected to make the running on Future Swing, with the combination going on out in front.
Future Swing, a colt with a big action, appeared beaten close home, but the colt has clearly inherited his share of his sire’s courage and Future Swing fought back gamely to win by a neck.
It was a fine effort by the Drakenstein Stud bred colt, who had 54kgs to carry against some battle-hardened older rivals including 2022 Listed WSB East Cape Derby winner Chollima.
Future Swing, who has won or placed in eight of his nine starts, is out of the Trippi mare Carousel Swing and is thus bred on the same Futura/Trippi cross as graded stakes winners Pink Tourmaline and Vihaan’s Pie.
Horse Of The Year in 2014-2015, Futura has six lots on offer at the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
