Avontuur Thoroughbred Estate’s resident stallion Talk Of The Town is well represented at this month’s Cape Yearling Sale.
The son of Avontuur’s late star sire Var has nine members of his first crop on offer at the Cape Sale, and expectations are high for Talk Of The Town.
Avontuur’s Pippa Mickleburgh is bringing three yearlings by Talk Of The Town to the auction, and has the following to say of her trio:
“Sound Of The Sea (Lot 30) is a half-brother to ten-time winner Chantyman is a wonderful type with good bone and a super temperament.”
Talk Of The Town is also represented here by Trendsetter (Lot 137), “This speedy Talk Of The Town filly has a really powerful hind quarter and she is a typical Var to me”, and Talking Point (Lot 148). The latter, a three-parts sister to Var’s G1 winning son Normanz, has made a big impression on Pippa, who describes her charge as, “She is a simply stunning filly, and is big and strong legged. I firmly believe she could be on the National Sale.”
Other farms with Talk Of The Town on offer are Prosper Stud, Oldlands Stud and Winterbach Stud.
Himself a winner of three of his five starts, the handsome Talk Of The Town hails from one of the best families in the stud book.
Talk Of The Town, whose full brother Harley Street recently won impressively at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, is out of the Street Cry mare Street Wise. The latter is out of Silk Slipper, herself a half-sister to the dam of legendary Australian sire Redoute’s Choice.
Other G1 winners found close up in Talk Of The Town’s female line include Manhattan Rain (sire of G1 Sun Met winner Whisky Baron), Al Maher, Hurricane Sky, Umatilla, In Italian and Shoals.
