Fresh off siring Sunday’s G2 World Sports Betting Guineas hero Wild Coast, Drakenstein Stud’s champion resident sire Trippi was back in the news on Monday, this time as a broodmare sire.

Trippi’s G2 Queen Mary Stakes winning daughter Jealous Again is the dam of talented gelding Sceptical who won the Listed Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Woodlands Stakes at Naas on Monday.
Third at 25-1 on debut at Dundalk in October, Sceptical went on to win four in a row, and his Woodlands Stakes triumph has taken him to the brink of a trip to Royal Ascot.
Officially rated the country’s best sprinter, Sceptical (by Exceed And Excel) showed dash to race towards the fore beforebeing allowed to cut loose with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining.
“He’s a special horse and so easy to train,”his handler Denis Hogan commented. “He’ll probably go to Ascot next week for the King’s Stand. He might be entered in the Diamond Jubilee as well and other than that there is the Greenlands [at The Curragh].I saw him doing a bit of work at Charlie Swan’s last Tuesday. I’ve seen a lot of horses go up that gallop and I’ ve never seen a horse go up it as quick and powerful.”
Jealous Again’s aptly-named 3-year-old gelding Remorse was second on debut for the Andre Fabre stable last month, while her 2-year-old is the Dark Angel filly First Smile.
Trippi is also broodmare sire of current US sire sensation Not This Time and the latter’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile/G1 Woodward Stakes winner Liam’s Map (whose impressive first crop includes potential Belmont Stakes contender Basin).
Champion Sire in South Africa in 2015-2016, Trippi is currently responsible for more than 150 stakes horses in total.
