Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting stallion Buffalo Bill Cody made headlines at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.
His outstanding son Buffalo Storm Cody claimed the G1 Mercury Sprint (1200m) in emphatic fashion.
It was a second Mercury Sprint win for the Buffalo Bill Cody gelding, with Buffalo Storm Cody having taken the 2025 race.
Trained by Tony Peter, four-year-old Buffalo Storm Cody was given a fine ride by Gavin Lerena in Sunday’s R1 000 000 sprint.
Lerena kept his mount just off the pace before unleashing the sprint star turning for home.
From there, Buffalo Storm Cody kept going strongly to claim the third G1 win of his career by nearly a length. (The gelding had also triumphed in this season’s G1 TAB Computaform
Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, the brilliant Buffalo Storm Cody has won 11 of 21 starts and has earned in excess of R2.6 million in stakes.
The Kestorm Investments owned gelding was a R410 000 buy from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
Buffalo Storm Cody is out of the Trippi mare Musical Romance.
His sire has some very well related two-year-olds on offer at the August Two Year Old Sale, including colts out of G1 winners Athina and Laverna.
