Ascot Stud’s homebred July winner Bold Silvano is enjoying a good spell with his two-year-olds this season.
The son of reigning champion sire Silvano was represented by his third juvenile winner (from seven runners) in 2017-2018 when his Riyo Stud bred son Bold Eagle made a winning debut on Thursday.
Trained by Gavin Van Zyl, Bold Eagle stormed down the centre of the Vaal track to score on debut by 0.9 of a length over 1000m.
Bold Eagle, who is out of the Western Winter mare Inflorescence, was a R210 000 buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.
His sire Bold Silvano is also responsible for this season’s impressive two-year-old filly Miss Boomerang who has won her two outings by nearly six lengths.
Five of Bold Silvano’s seven 2yo runners this season have either won or finished in the money. The sire is also responsible for talented Dubai campaigner Bold Rex, who holds entries in the G1 Dubai Turf and the G2 Godolphin Mile on Dubai World Cup night at the end of March.
The Equus Champion and July winner has two lots on this month’s Cape Yearling Sale –a filly from the same family as Bold Silvano himself (Lot 8) and a half-sister to four winners, from the same family as champion sprinter Senor Santa (Lot 25).
