Canadian Stakes victory for Jackson relative

13th September 2020

Ridgemont Highlands’ triple G1 winning sire Jackson, whose daughter Jacko’s Boy claimed her fifth career win when victorious at Turffontein on Saturday, gained a further boost to his stellar pedigree on Saturday.

Rideforthecause

Talented four-year-old Rideforthecause claimed her biggest win to date, when the Candy Ride filly won the G2 Canadian Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.
Stepping up to graded action for the first time in the CA$286,000 feature, Rideforthecause duly rolled to a four-length victory at 22-1 odds.
The filly ridden by David Moran was near the back of the pack through the early running of the filly and mare turf event conducted at about 1 1/8 miles, and rallied down the outside. She took over from 4-5 favorite Cambier Parc midway down the stretch and continued on to a final time of 1:45 on firm turf.

Rideforthecause, now a four time winner from ten starts, is out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Danceforthecause. The latter’s fourth dam is the legendary broodmare No Class -with the latter also ranking as the fourth dam of G1 Cape Derby/G1 Daily News 2000/G1 Champions Cup winner Jackson.

The latter, one of the very best sons of top local sire Dynasty, enjoyed a fine season in 2019-2020 where Jackson’s flagbearers included G3 Poinsettia Stakes/G3 Vasco Da Gama Prix du Cap winner Pretty Young Thing and Winter Solstice Stormsvlei Stakes 1-2 finishers Eva Eileen and Flame Tree.
