Classic success for Alado relative

12th September 2020

The Hemel ‘N Aarde based sire Alado hails from one of the finest families in the stud book, and Alado received a notable update to his pedigree following the running of Saturday’s Pertemps G1 St Leger at Doncaster.

Galileo Chrome

The St Leger, the last British classic of the season, was won by progressive colt Galileo Chrome, who prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Doncaster classic.

Jockey Tom Marquand picked up a memorable winning spare ride as Galileo Chrome landed Saturday’s race.
Shane Crosse was forced to miss the mount on Joseph O’Brien’s charge when testing positive for Covid-19 on Friday and connections turned to Marquand, who was taken off then Investec Derby favourite English King the week before the Epsom Classic.
He was at his strongest aboard the 4/1 winner who was pressed by Berkshire Rocco (16/1) throughout the final furlong but was a neck in front at the line;
In the process, Galileo Chrome (unbeaten in four starts this year) took his tally of wins to four from just five starts, with the colt having won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Yeats Stakes last time out.

A first classic winner for his sire Australia, Galileo Chrome is out of the winning Dansili mare Curious Mind -whose third Alruccaba also ranks as the third dam of Alado himself.

Alruccaba also features as the third dam of Alignak -who won the Listed #Chester Races Supports The Injured Jockey Fund Stand Cup Stakes at Chester on Saturday.
