Canford Cliffs colt wins Winter Nursery

3rd May 2026

Ridgemont’s five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs came up with his 31 stakes winner on Sunday.
His two-year-old son Tag And Release picked up his first black type win when he made all to win the G3 Winter Nursery (1100m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

The Greg Ennion trained colt was given a fine ride in Sunday’s R300 000 contest by Corne Orffer.
Orffer took his mount to the front, and Tag And Release kicked again in the closing stages, before drawing off to win the 2026 Winter Nursery by three-parts of a length.

Bred by Ten Einde Stud, Tag And Release has won two of four starts. The colt, who is out of the Captain Al mare Dad’s Catch, is owned by Messrs E A Braun, G W Ennion & C A F Goncalves.
Saturday’s winner was a R100 000 buy from the 2025 Cape Yearling Sale.

Tag And Release’s five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs has enjoyed more success this season, with the son of Tagula’s other notable performers including G3 TAB National Currency Sprint winner Miami Mountain, with the latter having also claimed the Betway Mythical Flight Sprint this season.
