Drakenstein Stud’s inform stallion, and Equus Champion, One World enjoyed more feature race success at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
One World filly Gerbera became her sire’s latest stakes winner when she won Saturday’s Listed The Independent On Saturday Insider East Coast Cup (2000m).
The Sean Tarry trained four-year-old was given a strong ride by log-leading jockey Craig Zackey.
After overcoming interference in running, Zackey brought Gerbera through with a strong late run and the pair got up to win courageously by a neck.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Gerbera has won four of 18 starts, and she is the sixth stakes winner to have emerged from One World’s first crop.
Gerbera, who is out of the Western Winter mare Barberton Daisy, had finished third in the Listed War Of Athena Handicap back in December.
Her G1 Sun Met winning sire One World has been in fine form of late, with the champion son of Captain Al also the sire of hugely impressive recent G3 Tote Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Rich Man’s World.
