Ridgemont’s G1 sire Canford Cliffs had another good pay day on Friday, when his daughter Song Of Myself won the East Cape Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Fairview.
Under Calvin Habib, the Dean Smith trained five-year-old raced just off the pace early on.
Turning for home, Song Of Myself was in second spot, before hitting the front 200m to go, and she stayed on well to claim the first leg of the Eastern Cape (F and M) Challenge by a length and a half.

Owned by Hollywood Racing, Song Of Myself was bred by Ridgemont Highlands.
Out of the Poet’s Voice mare Leaves Of Grass, Friday’s winner is a full-sister to Listed Olympic Duel Stakes runner up Body Electric.

Song Of Myself, third in both this season’s Listed Milkwood Stakes and Listed Lady’s Pendant, has won six of 14 starts for her connections.

Her five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs had also made his presence felt as a broodmare sire on Thursday.
Promising three-year-old Khovikhov (who is out of the Canford Cliffs mare Khyrova) showed plenty of courage when he won the G3 Singapore Pools Prix de la Porte Maillot at ParisLongchamp.
