Eighth winner for Real Gone Kid

19th June 2026

Ridgemont’s promising young stallion Real Gone Kid came up with an eighth first-crop winner at Fairview on Friday.
His two-year-old daughter Carnival followed up a runner up effort on debut with a convincing performance to win the second race on the card.

Under Gareth Wright, the Dean Smith trained filly turned Friday’s Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) into a one-horse race.

Making all the running in Friday’s contest, Carnival drew off in the closing stages to score convincingly by three and a quarter lengths.
Friday’s winner was bred by Ridgemont Highlands, with Ridgemont owning Carnival in partnership with Devin Heffer.

Carnival is out of the Var mare Variety Star.

Her sire Real Gone Kid has made an eye-catching start with his first two-year-olds this season.
At the time of writing, Real Gone Kid had been responsible for more juvenile winners this season than the likes of One World, Vercingetorix, and The United States.

His late sire Snitzel is on course to be named Australia’s Champion Sire for a fifth time this season, with Snitzel having already been responsible for 17 stakes winners in Australia in 2025-2026 thus far.
