The Cape Breeders Club hosted a very successful Discussion/Field Day at the Baker & McVeigh Hospital on Wednesday.
The discussion, opened to all stud owners and managers and senior grooms, attracted a 58 strong turnout.

Six highly respected members of the thoroughbred community spoke on a variety of subjects, and their talks proved both interesting and informative.

Dr Timpson spoke on both the anatomy and dissection of the equine lower limb, while Dr Nieuwenhuis touched on lesions of the fetlock and their potential impact on yearling sales.
Dr Gillespie gave an interesting talk on the dissection of the hock, and Dr Hanekom spoke indepth on lesions on the hock and the influence and impact such lesions have at the sale.

Dr Cameron also gave a fascinating talk, this time on the conditions of the equine larynx, while Robbie Miller ended  the day when speaking on how to manage lower limb deviation in foals.
Following an interesting and informative afternoon, the guests and speakers were treated to a spit-braai which was much enjoyed by all!
