Maine Chance Farms’ inform stallion Querari came up with his 34th stakes winner when his son Questor won the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup at Fairview on Friday.
Trained by Gavin Smith, the two-year-old made it three wins in a row with a convincing win in Friday’s Listed feature.
Under a fine ride from the inform S’Manga Khumalo, Questor hit the front close home and stayed on nicely to account for the promising Fairy Knight by half a length, with Listed East Cape Nursery winner Vision Of Wonder a further short-head back in third spot.
Another son of Querari, Underworld, finished fourth.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Questor has now won three of just five starts, having finished second in each of his first two outings.
The colt, who is out of the Fort Wood mare Gypsy Madonna, was a R150 000 from the 2022 Cape Yearling Sale.
His sire Querari, twice Leading Sire of 2YOs in South Africa, has had another good season with his two-year-olds also including the likes of Underworld, Zoomie and Baltic Secret -the first three finishers in the Listed Somerset 1200.
