Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Silvano has dominated the South African Sires List in recent years, with the triple G1 winning son of Lomitas South Africa’s Champion Sire by stakes for the last three years running.
Silvano, whose progeny also included the hugely exciting young stallion Vercingetorix, is already responsible for nearly 100 stakes winners, with his G1 winners including the Vodacom Durban July winners Bold Silvano, Heavy Metal, Power King and Marinaresco.
The champion, whose yearlings have made up to R9 000 000, also has an exceptional crop of three-year-olds this season, headed by exported G1 Cape Guineas winner Kilindini, unbeaten Triple Tiara winner Summer Pudding, and fellow graded stakes winners Silver Operator and Silver Host, and Silvano looks poised to collect his fourth South African Sires title in a row, and fifth overall.
Silvano has 11 yearlings in this draft, including a half-sister (Lot 301) to G2 Selangor Cup winner Hard Day’s Night, a colt out of G1 SA Oaks winner Pine Princess (Lot 329), and a colt (Lot 438) out of G3 winning daughter of Coolmore’s top class sire Mastercraftsman.
Silvano is also responsible for a regally bred colt (Lot 341) out of dual Equus Champion, and four time G1 winner, Princess Victoria as well as another colt (Lot 338) out of Princess Victoria’s G2 Sceptre Stakes winning three-parts sister Princess Royal.
Fellow Maine Chance resident Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2Yos in 2018-2019, also has two quality yearlings in this draft.
Querari’s two in this draft are a full-brother (Lot 83) to the very talented Champery, and a half-brother (Lot 391) to Gauteng Guineas/Zabeel Mile winner Janoobi and G3 winner Sedge. Both Querari colts hail from excellent families with Constitutional (Lot 83) hailing from the family of outstanding international gallopers Bobby’s Kitten, David Junior, Paradise Creek and Theatrical, and Sequoia (Lot 391) out of a daughter of former South African champion Scented Royal.
