Boland Stud have enjoyed plenty of success when selling horses at the Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale, and the Ceres based farm will once again be offering a top-quality draft at the 2017 KZN Sale.
One colt bound to find favour with buyers, is lot 43 –a colt by G1 Gold Medallion winner Seventh Rock, the sire of champion Seventh Plain and G1 winner Guiness.
Seventh Rock has been enjoying a fine spell of late, with his plethora of recent winners including G1 contender Keanan’s Rock, five length winner Tirzan, and 2yo debut winner Rockin Russian.
His colt here, lot 43, is out of a winning ½ sister to 2 stakes horses including the very talented Merchants runner up Silicone Valley, who ran fifth to Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle in the 2017 G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.
This colt’s second dam, by prominent broodmare sire Model Man (by Elliodor), is a sister in blood to feature race winner Jackson Square, and is very closely related to the G1 producers Popular and Pearl Hostess. The former is the dam of champion and July winner Trademark (who won the G2 Bernard Baruch and G3 Fourstardave Handicaps in North America), while Pearl Hostess is the dam of G1 winning 2yo Chestnuts N Pearls.
This is the great Party Time family responsible for champions In The Fast Lane and Let’s Rock ‘N Roll, as well as Fillies Guineas winner Sally Bowles. The latter, in turn, produced US G3 winner Consumer Credit, whose three US stakes wins included the G3 Sweetest Chant Stakes and also ran third in the 2015 G1 American Oaks.
This colt is bred on a similar cross to European classic winners North Light (English Derby) and Samitar (Irish 1000 Guineas), with the latter having been sired by Seventh Rock’s own sire, Rock Of Gibraltar!
