Coup De Grace sister stars at November Sale

9th November 2020

Klawervlei Stud’s blue blooded sire Coup De Grace is a half-brother to top-class racemare Dancing Rags and that Union Rags mare made headlines at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale on Sunday.

Offered for sale by Royal Oak Farm as Agent, Dancing Rags was knocked down to Nobutaka Tada for $1 100 000 at Sunday’s sale.

Dancing Rags, who sold in foal to Curlin, won twice at two, scoring her signature win when landing the 2016 G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland.

The half-sister to G2 Amsterdam Stakes/G3 Bay Shore Stakes winning sire Coup De Grace is out of G3 Iowa Oaks third place-getter Home Court, herself a daughter of Breeders’ Cup Distaff winning champion Jewel Princess.

Dancing Rags’ half-brother Coup De Grace has made a pleasing start to his stud career, with Coup De Grace’s early first crop winners including feature race contenders Un Deux Troix, Sh Boom, and debut winner Coup De Tete.

Coup De Grace, whose multiple champion sire Tapit is the sire of Friday’s G1 TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Essential Quality, has four lots on this week’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale and a further ten lots on the CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale later in the month.
