Drakenstein Stud’s five time G1 winning sire Duke Of Marmalade came to the fore at Kenilworth racecourse on Tuesday afternoon when the former Cartier Champion was responsible for a pair of eye catching winners.

Duke Of Marmalade’s first success on Tuesday came when his daughter Halliberry stayed on to shed her maiden by three-parts of a length when scoring over 1200m.

Trained by Justin Snaith, Halliberry, who was ridden to victory by Richard Fourie, had finished third at her previous start.

Her sire’s second success came when his Drakenstein Stud bred and owned daughter Chat Ching made it two wins from just three starts when running out a convincing winner of Tuesday’s sixth race.
The 3yo Cat Ching, trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, ran on strongly under Aldo Domeyer to register a one and a quarter length victory, while scoring over 1600m.

Cat Ching, who is held in high regard by her connections, could now be aimed at the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas.

Duke Of Marmalade went close to having three winners at Kenilworth on Tuesday with his daughter Springisintheair finishing a close up second in the fifth race on the card.

A proven sire of more than 70 stakes horses, Duke Of Marmalade is also enjoying increasing success as a broodmare sire with his daughters already responsible for group winners Antonia De Vega, Chilean, Lady Wannabe and Keep On Fly. He is also broodmare sire of promising two-year-old Cleveland who recently romped home to a four length maiden win at the Curragh and who holds an entry for both next year’s G1 Investec Derby and G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

Duke Of Marmalade has five lots on this week’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale and a further four lots on the CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale.
