Danon Scorpion arrives

4th August 2026

Wilgerbosdrift Stud is delighted to announce the safe arrival of Danon Scorpion (JPN) following his journey from Japan.

After an arduous trip, the Grade 1-winning son of Lord Kanaloa has arrived in excellent condition and is settling in well ahead of the 2026 breeding season.

A winner of the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup, Danon Scorpion is by Horse of the Year and Champion Sprinter-Miler Lord Kanaloa, one of Japan’s most influential stallions. Lord Kanaloa has sired more than 900 winners, including 63 stakes winners, and boasts an exceptional Average Earnings Index (AEI) of 2.04.

His dam, Lexie Lou, was crowned Canadian Horse of the Year, a multiple champion, and is a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, giving Danon Scorpion an outstanding international pedigree on both sides.

A Grade 1 winner at three and Grade 1 placed at two, Danon Scorpion displayed speed, class and versatility throughout his racing career, excelling over 1600 to 1800 metres.

Now safely settled at Wilgerbosdrift, Danon Scorpion is ready to embark on the next chapter of his career. He offers South African breeders a rare opportunity to access world-class Japanese bloodlines and inject proven international excellence into the next generation of champions.
