Drakenstein Stud’s in-form resident stallion Duke Of Marmalade had a hugely impressive debut winner at the Vaal on Thursday.
His three-year-old Drakenstein Stud bred and owned daughter Karino simply outclassed her rivals to win first time out by eight and a quarter lengths, when scooting up over 1200 metres.
The three-year-old, who jumped the well backed tote favourite, is trained by Michael and Adam Azzie and she was steered to victory by Callan Murray.
Karino is, however, but one of several promising three-year-olds representing Duke Of Marmalade this season, with others including G2 SA Fillies Nursery third True To Life, fluent recent winner Impressive Duchess, and Saturday’s G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship contender Larentina. The latter has won two of her only four starts to date and looks a progressive filly in the making.
Duke Of Marmalade, whose progeny include five international G1 winners, has two fillies on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale, and five lots on the 2019 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
