Varsfontein Stud’s successful homebred sire Master Of My Fate continues to churn out smart looking winners by the week, and the son of Jet Master came up with another promising sort when his son Power Broker made a winning debut at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.

A two-year-old colt trained by Paul Peter, Power Broker stamped himself a horse to follow when victorious in Tuesday’s #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate (1000 metres).
Under Mark Khan, the son of Master Of My Fate ran on too strongly to account for another well-bred first-timer, Set To Go, by a length and three-quarters, with third place finisher Thunderstruck another two and a quarter lengths further back.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Power Broker was a R170 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.
The colt is out of the Fort Wood mare Nikki and is thus bred on the same Master Of My Fate/Fort Wood cross as G3 WSB Best Odds, First Caradoc Gold Cup winner African Adventure and Listed Derby Trial victor Gift For The Gap.
Second Leading Sire, by stakes, in South Africa for 2020-2021, Master Of My Fate has five lots on offer at this year’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
