Trained by Dean Kannemeyer, two-year-old Definitely Yes made the perfect start to his career when he won Monday’s Online Form Guide www.gallop.co.za Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m).
Under a strong ride from Craig Zackey, Definitely Yes flew up late to win on debut by a long neck.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Definitely Yes is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Maybe Yes.
The well-bred colt was a R1 600 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.
Definitely Yes is the 12th two-year-old winner for Vercingetorix in South Africa this season, with this tally also including G2 SA Wilgerbosdrift Fillies Nursery queen Little Ballerina, G3 Tabgold Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Cymric and Listed World Sports Betting Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Roman Agent.
Currently runner-up on the South African General Sires List, Vercingetorix has been responsible for ten stakes winners this season with his runners having earned more than R20.542 million.
The champion son of six times South African Champion Sire Silvano has five lots on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale, including a filly (Lot 124) out of a G3 winning half-sister to champion Mythical Flight, and a filly (Lot 175) out of a three-parts sister to G1 Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo.
