Brilliant debut winner for Master Of My Fate

Varsfontein Stud’s consistently successful sire Master Of My Fate came up with a hugely impressive debut winner on Monday.
His two-year-old daughter Lock And Key turned the Bet With Tabgold -The Intellligent Bet! Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville into a procession.
Under Richard Fourie, the Glen Kotzen-trained filly pulled lengths clear in the closing stages before drawing clear to win by over eight and a half lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein, Lock And Key is out of the Judpot mare Double Whammy.
The filly was a R275 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale. She is the seventh juvenile winner this season for Master Of My Fate, whose two-year-old daughter Splicethemainbrace has won all of the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery, Listed East Cape Nursery and Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes.
Lock And Key was one of two winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Monday for her sire.
Master Of My Fate gelding Master Fuego stormed home to convincingly capture Monday’s Follow Gold Circle On Facebook Middle Stakes.
Under Craig Zackey, the Dean Kannemeyer trained three-year-old flew up late to land Monday’s 1750m contest by just under a length.
Bred by Patricia Devine Investments (Pty) Ltd, Master Fuego has won four of just nine starts.
The progressive gelding, who is out of the Fort Wood mare Umlilo, was a R250 000 buy from the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale.
Master Of My Fate is having another fine season in 2023-2024 and is fourth on the South African General Sires List. The son of Jet Master has been responsible for four black-type winners of seven stakes races in 2023-2024 thus far with his offspring having already earned more than R13.648 million in stakes.
