Vercingetorix, South Africa’s Champion Sire elect for 2024-2025, came up with his eleventh two-year-old winner of the season when his son Wild Justice made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Monday.
One of six winners on the day for Gareth Van Zyl, two-year-old Wild Justice caught the eye when winning the Race Coast-Bright Future For SA Horse Racing Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).
Under Nicolas Patel, Wild Justice kept finding in the closing stages to score by nearly three-parts of a length.
Bred by La Plaisance Stud, the colt was a R900 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale.
Wild Justice is out of the Captain Al mare Sovereign Flo and is thus bred on the same cross as G1 winners Double Grand Slam, Mia Moo and Vernichey.
His sire Vercingetorix has some very promising two-year-olds this season, with this tally including G3 Tote Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Elegantrix and G3 Tote Strelitzia Stakes winner Quickstepgal.
In total, Vercingetorix has been responsible for 20 individual stakes winners this season, with his progeny having claimed 27 black type races in South Africa during 2024-2025.
