The Black Swan Stud based champion Elusive Fort had a wonderful season in 2019-2020, and the champion son of Fort Wood looks on course for another big season this year.

The triple G1 winner came up with yet another stakes winner when his Narrow Creek Stud bred son Catch Twentytwo stormed home to win Saturday’s G2 World Sports Betting Dingaans (1600m) at Turffontein racecourse.

Under Gavin Lerena, the Paul Peter trained Catch Twentytwo ran on strongly to land the Dingaans by two and a quarter lengths, with a host of highly regarded 3yos finishing in his wake.

Out of the Argonaut mare Ignition Lady, Catch Twentytwo has now won two of just six starts, with the gelding having finished fourth to the unbeaten Malmoos at his previous outing.

The son of Elusive Fort was a R120 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Elusive Fort, South Africa’s Joint Champion Stayer of 2005-2006, has now been responsible for 24 black type horses, with his tally headed by the G1 winners Lauderdale, Out Of Your League and Siren’s Call.
