Talented four-year-old Lady Wannabe, whose dam Wannabe Better is a daughter of Drakenstein Stud’s successful sire Duke Of Marmalade, is one of 14 horses set to do battle in Friday’s rich Bahrain Trophy.

The second running of the 2000m contest turf event, offering a purse of £500,000, represents much of the world’s horse racing elite, from England and Ireland, Europe and Japan, as well as the Middle East. A “who’s who” of international stars is booked to ride.

Trained by Fozzy Stack, Lady Wannabe has won four of her 14 starts thus far, and last time out captured the G3 Darley Stakes, when she defeated G1 Jebel Hatta winner, and fellow Bahrain Trophy hopeful, Dream Castle by a length and three quarters.

A daughter of Camelot, Lady Wannabe was produced by Duke Of Marmalade’s high-class daughter Wannabe Better -whose four career wins included triumphs in the G3 Ballycorus Stakes and Listed Ruby Stakes.

Five time G1 winner Duke Of Marmalade has some very promising three-year-olds to his name this season headed by the exciting filly Chat Ching -a winner of two of just three starts and a potential contender for the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas.
