Black Swan Stud’s very much inform sire Elusive Fort was the toast of Kenilworth racecourse on Saturday following his brilliant son Kommetdieding’s victory in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met (2000m).

In the process, the Michelle Rix/Harold Crawford trained colt became the first horse in ten years to complete the G1 Vodacom Durban July/Met double, with Kommetdieding having also triumphed in last year’s Durban July.
Under July winning jockey Gavin Lerena, Kommetdieding was perfectly placed early on as Rockin’ Ringo went out to make the running.

As the field turned for home, Kommetdieding was asked the question, and hit the front someway from home.
The Klawervlei Stud bred four-year-old showed his class by digging to hold off challenges from his G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate conqueror Jet Dark, who ran second, and multiple G1 winner Lineback, who took third, and won, a shade cosily, by three-parts of a length.

Second in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate last time out, Kommetdieding has now won six of just ten starts, with his previous wins including not only the 2021 Vodacom Durban July but also the 2021 G3 Politician Stakes.

The colt, who looks sure to be a popular stud prospect when he retires to stud, was a R55 000 buy from the 2019 Klawervlei Farm Sale.

Out of the Captain Al mare Adorable, Kommetdieding is bred on the same Elusive Fort cross as dual G3 winner Freedom Charter, and the latter’s Sophomore Sprint winning brother Ernie.

His triple G1 winning sire Elusive Fort has had another good season in 2021-2022 thus far, with his other flagbearers including the graded stakes winning fillies Big Burn and Sprinkles.
