Varsfontein Stud’s homebred stallion Erik The Red came up with a third first-crop stakes winner on Friday.
His three-year-old daughter Danish Dynamite picked up her biggest win to date when she won the Listed Milkwood Stakes (1000m) at Fairview.
In the process, the filly became the third stakes winner to have emerged from her sire’s first crop, with this crop also including the graded stakes winners Vapour Trail and Zalatoris.
Under log-leading jockey Craig Zackey, the Dean Smith trained Danish Dynamite ran on strongly to get up close home and land the 2026 Milkwood Stakes by three-parts of a length.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Friday’s winner races for Mrs Mariska Kotze, Messrs C Kotze and the Estate Late Gavin Smith.
Danish Dynamite, who has won five of 11 starts, is out of the Fort Wood mare Gypsy Madonna.
The Erik The Red filly was a R50 000 buy from the 2024 March Online Auction.
The blue blooded Erik The Red is a three-parts brother to Triple Crown winner Malmoos, the sire of Friday’s Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes winner Marchland.
