Ridgemont’s Triple Crown winning sire Malmoos has made a fine start with his first two-year-olds this season.
Malmoos’ initial runners include star Eastern Cape filly Marchland, with the latter making it three wins from three starts when victorious in the Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes (1400m) at Fairview on Friday.
A dominant winner of the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last time out, the Kelly Mitchley trained filly was all the rage for Friday’s feature.
Under Muzi Yeni, Marchland raced just off the pace as Obsidian Star went out to make the running.
When asked the question, Marchland cruised into the lead and she went away to score by three and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Marchland is owned by Mr Mervin Govender.
The unbeaten two-year-old, who is out of the Western Winter mare Marcheline, was a R450 000 buy from the 2025 Premier Yearling Sale.
Marchland’s inform sire Malmoos had come up with another eye catching winner just one day previously, when promising gelding Life In Colour romped home to a four and a half length win at the Vaal.
By champion sire Captain Al, Malmoos hails from the immediate family of successful sires Erik The Red (by Captain Al) and Master Of My Fate.
