Moutonshoek are pleased to announce their exciting young sires Admiral Kitten and The United States, both of whom are standing their first seasons at stud in South Africa this year, are set to cover some high-class mares this season.

G1 Secretariat Stakes winner Admiral Kitten, the only son of US champion sire Kitten’s Joy at stud in South Africa –and a grandson of the great sire El Prado, is reported to have recovered well from his travels and has put on a good amount of weight since arriving in the Cape.
Among the high-class mares booked to Admiral Kitten in 2017 are Equus Champion Night Diva, Fillies Guineas winner Glenrossal, stakes winner and G1 Woolavington runner up Tassie Belle (among the mares tested in foal), the beautifully bred Great Wall (dam of G3 Cape Classic winner Eighth Wonder), Mambo In Seattle’s Listed Swallow Stakes winning daughter Mambonick, stakes winners Atlantic Storm and Cinnamon Sugar, Bomi –a half-sister to the dam of champion and July winner Marinaresco, and Derby winner Royal Bench’s half-sister Sendintheclowns.
Admiral Kitten is from an outstanding female line, which has also produced such champion sires as Cozzene and Fort Wood.

His stable mate, The United States, has settled in really well and covered 20 mares prior to his recent accident.
Moutonshoek’s Bennie van der Merwe says of the chestnut, “He is bright and alert and his wonderful nature is definitely assisting with his recovery. Of the first eight mares that he covered six are in foal. (Including all three that he covered on the same day!) The two not in foal mares had mare issues .He can do the job!”
A G1 winning son of Galileo who earned in excess of $2 million during his career, The United States is a full-brother to recent G1 Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes heroine Hydrangea.
His mates this season look to include Persnikkity –a half-sister to SA Derby winner Royal Bencher, UAE Oaks winner Imperial Ice, Listed Perfect Promise Sprint winner Kitti Cat (tested in foal), the blue blooded Unconditional (whose sire Danehill Dancer is broodmare sire of Galileo’s champion Minding), G3 winner Madrisa, Rock Of Gibraltar’s stakes winning daughter Alinga (dam of unbeaten 3yo sensation Broadway Trip), and Winter Oaks winner Secret Risk. The latter is another mare making her mark, as she is the dam of the hugely promising recent winner Undercover Agent.
From the same family as classic winners Tie Black and Valentine Waltz, The United States’ other notable relatives include champion sire and Breeders’ Cup Mile hero Last Tycoon.
