Paardeberg Stud’s well-performed stallion Expert Eye’s good run of form continued on Thursday when his daughter Entrancement won the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Beckford Stakes at Bath.
David Menuisier’s strong end to the season continued at Bath when Entrancement just held off Marie’s Rock to win the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Beckford Stakes.
Champion jockey-elect Oisin Murphy was on Entrancement (7-2) and tracked Marie’s Rock into the straight and when the strong-travelling Forest Fairy dropped away, the two had it between them.
Entrancement, who relishes testing ground, just came out on top by a head. Murphy told Sky Sports Racing: “The race panned out well, she’s in good form and she handles this ground.”
Out of the Halling mare Entree, Entrancement was winning for a fourth time on Thursday while picking up her biggest win to date.
Her G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile-winning sire Expert Eye also had success at Southwell on Thursday, where his two-year-old daughter Shining River broke her maiden, scoring by a length and a half.
Expert Eye shares his sire Acclamation with current boom stallion Mehmas. The latter, sire of a pair of G1 winning two-year-olds this season in the form of Scorthy Champ and Vertical Blue, made headlines at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1.
Mehmas had a colt bought by Godolphin for 1 000 000 guineas, with Godolphin spending 800 000 guineas for another son of Mehmas.
Another son of Acclamation, Dark Angel, had a filly make 2 900 000 guineas at this year’s October Yearling Sale Book 1.
