Maine Chance Farms’ promising sire Querari was represented by a very impressive two-year-old winner when his son Wonderwall won by 4.75 lengths at the Vaal on Thursday.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Wonderwall, who had finished a close up second in the Kuda Sprint last time out, turned the 1200m maiden juvenile plate into a horse-race, as he cruised home to score as he liked for champion trainer Sean Tarry to beat the well bred first timer Naafer.
Bred on the same Querari/Silvano cross as G2 The Debutante winner Cosmic Light, Wonderwall was a R320 000 buy from last year’s CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac.
His sire Querari, whose talented half-sister Quidura runs in Saturday’s G1 Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland, has now been represented by three juvenile winners this year, including impressive 6.25 length winner Made In Hollywood.
The G1 winning son of champion sprinter Oasis Dream has three lots on next week’s Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale –including a filly out of a stakes winning granddaughter of Danehill (Lot 91), and a colt (bred on the same cross as Wonderwall) out of a Silvano ½ sister to Guineas winner Philonikon (Lot 132).
Querari’s 12 strong National Yearling Sale draft includes a full-sister to G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon (Lot 107), a half-sister to Fillies Mile runner up Tambalang (Lot 150), a half-brother to G3 winning 2yo Elegant Blush (Lot 378) and a three parts brother to Querari’s recent 2yo debut second Procal Harum whose dam is a half-sister to Fillies Guineas winner Maybe Yes (Lot 477).
