Feature race success for in-form Judpot

1st Mar 2018

Varsfontein Stud’s highly successful stallion Judpot has enjoyed a memorable week. Following two impressive winners at Kenilworth on Tuesday, the son of  A P Indy enjoyed feature race success when his son Sniper Shot won the Fever Tree Stakes at Scottsville on Wednesday.

Bred by the Birch Bros, the Paul Lafferty trained 3yo gelding ran on smartly to win the 1400m feature by a length and three quarters over older rival Black Cat Back.
A top class performer at two, Sniper Shot ran third in the 2017 G3 Umkhomazi Stakes and was beaten by just half a length into second in the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale Million.

The 2018 Fever Tree Stakes winner, who is out of the Rich Man’s Gold mare Seven Veils, was a R140 000 purchase from the 2016 Sibaya KZNYearling Sale.

He has now won or placed in nine of 14 outings and has banked R458 532 in earnings –a handsome return on his purchase price!

Sniper Shot was one of only two runners for Judpot at the Scottsvillemeeting, with the sire’s only other representative, If And When, running second over 1400 metres.

At the time of writing, Judpot has been represented by three winners this week thus far.

Judpot, a former Equus Outstanding Stallion, is the sire of over 26 stakes horses, and counting, headed by G1 winners Along Came Polly, Forest Indigo and Juxtapose.
His impressive debut winner Nous Voila looks to be headed towards the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship.
