Fifth graded win for Querari gelding

2nd May 2026

Maine Chance Farms’red hot sire Querari enjoyed more graded race success when his top-class son Questioning won the G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.
In the process, the gelded five-year-old made it three wins on the bounce, with Questioning having now claimed five graded stakes races.

Always well positioned under Richard Fourie, the Vaughan Marshall trained Questioning ran on strongly down the inside of the Hollywoodbets Greyville track to get up and win the 2026 Drill Hall Stakes by over a length and a half.

It was a case of redemption for Questioning, with the latter having finished  fifth in the 2025 Drill Hall Stakes.

Bred by Alec Foster, Questioning has won ten of 25 starts, with his victories including this season’s G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes and G3 Race Coast Matchem Stakes.
Owned by Greg and Gina Bortz, Mukund Gujadhur and the Wernars Family, Questioning is out of the Captain Al mare Wheredowego, and is thus bred on the same cross as this season’s Race Coast Sales Slipper winner Turn It Up.

Saturday’s winner was described by his jockey as a “great horse”in the post race interview, with Questioning could go next in the G1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge.

Questioning was one of two winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday for Querari, with the latter’s two-year-old daughter AMC Roy’s Fantasy winning the first race on the card.

Querari has had a wonderful season thus far, with his flagbearers including not only the aforementioned Questioning and Turn It Up, but also such graded stakes winners as Querari Dancer, Star Major and Time Is Precious.
