Cheveley Stud’s homebred champion Legislate came up with his first G1 winner when Legislate gelding Good For You won the G1 Gold Medallion (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday.
Runner up in the G3 Tote Godolphin Barb Stakes on his penultimate start, the Glen Kotzen trained Good For You received a fine ride from Chad Little to land Saturday’s R1 500 000 contest.

Always up with the pace, Good For You showed the benefit of experience when he stayed on strongly to land the 2025 Gold Medallion by a long neck. The winner had been backed down from 10-1 to start at 4-1 at the off.

Bred by Oldlands Stud, Good For You has won two of seven starts, with the gelding victorious in two of his last three outings.

Good For You, who is out of the Indigo Magic mare Slightly Blonde, was a R300 000 purchase from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

The gelding is one of several promising two-year-olds for the four time G1 winning Legislate this season.
Other promising sorts include In A Timely Manner, who won impressively on debut recently and G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery third place getter Arashi. Legislate, South African Horse Of The Year in 2013-2014, is also the sire of 2025 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July entrant Regulation.
